Job summary
This post is for a Clinical Psychologist to work in NHS Kirklees Talking Therapies, with a Long Term Conditions focus, using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The successful candidate will take up a new post based within Talking Therapies, but with close links to the Clinical Health Psychology Departments within Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (MYTT) & Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT). Clinical and professional supervision will be provided both by NHS Talking Therapies and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a long term conditions specialism from MYTT &/or CHFT Clinical Health Psychology department.
The successful candidate will be BABCP accredited, or will be supported to achieve this. This post provides an opportunity to develop enhanced CBT skills and gain/maintain BABCP accreditation. Previous experience working with physical health or neurological conditions is desirable.
The role involves establishing a new Clinical Psychology role within Talking Therapies, with the aim of 1. Offering individual assessment and therapy using Clinical Psychology skills to adapt High Intensity Interventions to the needs of people with more complex presentations due to Long Term Conditions. 2. Liaison between SWYT NHS TT and Clinical Health Psychology (MYTT/CHFT) in relation to people with Long Term Conditions. 3. Supporting the development of additional skills and knowledge in working with Long Term Conditions amongst NHS TT colleagues.
Main duties of the job
There is scope for job role and duties to be shaped by the successful candidates. Day to day you will be based with NHS TT, with regular supervision and liaison meetings with Clinical Health Psychology. We are committed to supporting the postholders development as a CBT therapist and as a Clinical Psychologist, with attention to a good level of support given the complexities of this role. A typical week is expected to include clinics delivering CBT to NHS TT clients under NHS TT operational structures. Liaison with Clinical Health Psychology colleagues. There may be opportunities for involvement in supervision, teaching, training, service evaluation, audit and/or research once integrated into the service. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the NHS TT service, and be part of the ongoing good relationships and shared pathways between NHS TT and Clinical Health Psychology (MYTT/CHFT).
