Job summary
We are seeking to appoint an
experienced Clinical Psychologist at band 8B to work as part of the MDT on our
older peoples inpatient unit, Beechdale ward, based on the Calderdale Royal
Hospital site in Halifax.
We are looking for someone
with a commitment to and passion for working with older people and people with
dementia in an acute mental health setting. Your clinical role on the inpatient
unit will need the skills, experience and further training to provide
psychological assessment, including cognitive assessment, risk assessment and
management, and therapy to people with complex mental health problems
associated with aging and frailty, plus confidence to support other clinical
staff to deliver psychologically informed care.
As a senior member of
the MDT you will also support the ward through the ongoing transformation
process for older people's wards in the Trust. Leadership and change management
skills will be a desirable asset.

Main duties of the job
You will lead
the psychology service on the ward, including service development and
evaluation, and supervision of the Assistant Psychologist. You will work
closely with ward managers, consultants, nursing and healthcare staff to
integrate psychological formulation into the care delivered on the ward,
support the delivery of evidence based psychological interventions and
psychologically informed interventions by other clinical staff, and maintain a
robust governance framework.
We are keen
to appoint someone who has experience of providing supervision, consultation
and training to multidisciplinary groups to effectively share skills, enhance
understanding and improve outcomes.
We
would strongly encourage applicants with an interest and competence in
neuropsychology. There will be opportunity to receive specialist supervision
and training and to link into the Trust-wide Older People's Psychology network,
as well as strong links with the Leeds DClinPsy course.

factors in the context of inadequate or unavailable information, equivocal
research/ evidence or where expert opinion differs.

care plans.
7 The post holder is expected to act as
care co-ordinator where appropriate, ensuring the provision of a care package
