Are you passionate about
supporting people with learning disabilities (LD) and improving their quality
of life?
There is an option for band 7s to complete a preceptorship
with the aim of developing the required competencies for an 8a post. Candidates
would need to successfully complete this before they gain the band 8a and this
would not be achieved due to length of time in post.
You
will join a supportive team including Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, OT, Physiotherapy,
SALT, Dietetics and support staff. The MDT works together to support adults
with LD and their families/carers across Kirklees.
This post involves direct
assessment, formulation and intervention work with service users and indirect
work with families/carers and providers. You will also be involved in audit,
service evaluation and clinical governance.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate a positive attitude to
working with PWLD and a commitment to promoting a high quality of life for this
client group. Interest and/or experience in undertaking diagnostic assessments
and therapeutic interventions with PWLD would be an advantage.
The post holder will have opportunities for
engaging in service development, teaching/training, research and CPD. The
successful candidate will be supported by the Trust to undertake accredited specialist
training if needed. The Trust offers flexible/hybrid working and staff are
supported to work agilely.
To support you, we offer a
robust supervision framework and you will be supervised by a Consultant
Clinical Psychologist. We offer clinical and leadership development programs, as
well as a range of CPD opportunities, from one-day workshops to fully
accredited courses.
The Team works closely with the Leeds
Clinical Psychology Doctorate programme and regularly take trainees on
placement.

formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological intervention
and/or management of mental health/psychological and/or behavioural
difficulties based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and exercising
expert clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence based
practice across a full range of care settings.
To
establish rapport and build effective working relationships with service
users and all those involved in their psychological, emotional and
behavioural well-being.
To
evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account
theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning
historical and developmental processes.
To work
jointly with other team members and professionals in delivering the most
appropriate clinical service to service users and, where appropriate,
their families/carers.
To follow
appropriate local Safeguarding Adults and Children policies in all
clinical work, including close liaison with all relevant agencies.

provide specialist risk assessment of, and intervention to, service users
who may present in local acute settings in line with agreed procedures.
To liaise
and consult with the wider professional network in the care of service

To
exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment,
treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by
psychological interventions and to autonomously manage a caseload of
clients.

To assist in providing supervision to Band 7
HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologists, doctoral level Clinical Psychology

assistant/graduate psychologists; to ensure that they acquire the necessary
