Job summary
Yorkshire Smokefree Calderdale have an exciting opportunity
for a 30 hour band 4 role for a one year fixed term contract, starting from the
date of recruitment, with the focus on smoking and mental health. This post is
funded through the government grant (Stopping the Start), additional funding
given to local authorities to support current smokers to quit smoking.
The successful applicant will have experience of working in
a community mental health setting and be able to demonstrate a desire to work
in the stop smoking service with this cohort of clients. Training will be given
to enable you to meet the demands of the post.

Main duties of the job
The main aim of this post is to undertake activities to increase
the number of smokers using mental health services to access support to quit.
The successful applicant will have experience of providing
help, support or counselling and have skills in behaviour change techniques. You
will manage your own workload and clinics, delivering stop smoking support to
clients in community settings, both face to face and telephone. You will have
excellent communication skills, enabling you to work alongside partner services
to support delivery of training to promote the service and the benefits of
quitting.
With a background in mental health services, you will use
your knowledge and skills to support smokers through their quit journey,
liaising with the relevant services, and provide on-going support to stay
stopped on discharge from hospital. You will act as a source of information and
advice for the team regarding mental health services and contribute to the
evaluation of this work.

- GCSE level English and Mathematics or equivalent
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent in health related studies OR substantial
- successful experience of delivering stop smoking interventions in a range of settings
