Clinical / Counselling Psychologist Band 7/8a (with opportunity for preceptorship) Internal Only
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Clinical/ Counselling
Psychologist to work in the South Kirklees Core Team: a well-established
Community Mental Health Team for adults. The post offers a wonderfully diverse
working role encompassing individual, group, multi-disciplinary, supervisory
and consultation work. The Core Team, in
conjunction with the Trauma Informed Personality Disorder Pathway, aims to
provide trauma-informed care to individuals with complex needs. The post-holder
will have the opportunity to work within a friendly, fully integrated multi-disciplinary
team who are dedicated to developing better services guided by trauma-informed
principles of care. This has included the further development of a robust
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy programme; Structured Clinical Management; and a Mentalisation
Based Therapy provision. It also includes various other 1:1 psychological modalities
(i.e. Integrative, CBT, Compassion Focussed, ACT, Psychoanalytic psychotherapy and
EMDR).
Importantly,
this is a fantastic opportunity for an established psychologist with suitable
post qualification experience or as a preceptorship post for a newly qualified
psychologist.
If
employed on a preceptorship basis, the candidate would be expected to
undertake a development plan in order to successfully complete the competency
framework required for band 8a.
Main duties of the job
We
are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is interested in positively influencing
systems through promoting psychological ways of working, and who is flexible
and creative in response to service pressures and patient needs. The role will
involve a wide range of activities, utilising various psychological models.
This will include providing consultation, assessment, formulation, individual
therapy, group-work and contributing to service developments and research. You
will be working with a range of professionals from diverse backgrounds,
including psychological therapists, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Advanced
Practitioners, Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Support Workers and Occupational
Therapists.
There
is professional and clinical support from other Clinical Psychologists, as well
as opportunities for you to develop your clinical interests in CPD and
supervision. The team is known for being
supportive - encouraging self-care, flexible working, and professional
development.
There
are strong links with the University of Leeds Doctoral Training course, offering
ample opportunities to develop your supervisory skills. Audit and evaluation
are encouraged and supported across the Trust.
