Calderdale CAMHS Childrens Learning Disability Team
We
are looking to recruit an experienced Nurse/Allied Health Professional to join
our team based in Halifax.
We are an experienced and innovative team that provides a
high-quality service and support to children, young people aged 3 to 18 years
with learning disabilities who are experiencing mental health, behaviour and
emotional well being difficulties, alongside their parent/carers and
multi-agency support services.
We are
seeking a dynamic, confident and committed professional who has previous
experience of working with children and young people with mental health and/or learning
disabilities in a variety of settings, but we would also accept applicants who
have similar experience of working with adults with similar needs.
The post holder will be expected to work autonomously and
as part of a team to improve health outcomes for children with Learning
Disabilities within their local community. You will need to be self-motivated
and have excellent organisation and time-management skills alongside possessing
strong interpersonal
and communication skills demonstrating an ability to work with a range of
professionals, agencies and carers across a wide range of settings.Flexible
working will be considered.

Main duties of the job
You will be working within the Calderdale
Childrens Learning Disability Team as part of the Calderdale Openminds
partnership, enabling direct access and support from a range of specialist
pathways and specialist practitioners.
You will be responsible for the
assessment of the needs of the children and young people accessing the service
and develop evidence-based support and interventions.
The post involves working with
individuals with complex and diverse needs, many of which are communicated
through behaviour and as such we require the applicant to be confident in
managing such situations within a variety of community settings.
You will need to be
confident in using a range of IT skills and will need to maintain up-to-date
records and activity data in line with the Trust record keeping standards.
You will need to be
a car driver and have access to a vehicle.

The
post-holder will:
Provide assessment and treatment to children
and young people with mental health needs.
Work autonomously and collaboratively within
the MDT, providing consultation for other agencies/professionals.
Work as part of CAMHS first on-call rota.
Promote the safeguarding and welfare of
children and young people.
To
provide routine and urgent assessment and interventions to young people with a
wide range of emotional and psychological problems who are referred to
specialist CAMHS, in keeping with evidence based practice with supervision from
a senior clinician within professional guidelines and within the overall
framework of the teams policies and procedures.

ongoing process of delivering a comprehensive CAMHS system.

assessment, interventions, therapy to children, young people with the most
severe, complex and persistent mental health problems, including those who
are severely mentally ill or at
suicidal risk and where appropriate, families as both an autonomous
practitioner and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a variety of settings
to address need. This will include working with the CAPA model.
