Job summary
22.5 Hours Per Week
The successful candidate will be a part of the pathway and will
support the team in developing and driving this pathway within the Eating
Disorders service and provide specialist knowledge into the wider CAMHS
pathways, where appropriate, working with other specialists within the team.
You will be able to offer supervision to peers and the wider professionals
within the team. You will This will
include supporting service development based on best practice guidelines and
existing research and evidence. Further requirements can be found within the

You will deliver high quality interventions following care planning, treatment
and regular reviews (CPA) from the qualified practitioners in your team for
children and young people who meet the criteria of the pathway.
Many eating disorders, such as Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia
Nervosa, are well-known even among non-medical professionals. This is largely
thanks to ongoing media attention and education efforts, however we need to
ensure we engage effectively with the family to better support young people.
By identifying children and young
people earlier and providing the right support, we can work with families to
provide a dedicated treatment plan to be able to, prevent escalation and reduce
long term difficulties and decrease the pressures in the ED and acute services.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:

complex cases as well as liaison with other services.

and guidance regarding a Systemic approach.
The post also involves attendance at a variety
of meetings with our external partners/agencies to ensure effective pathways of
care.
Delivery of group interventions where
appropriate.
To personally maintain accurate records.
Developing and maintaining supportive
professional networks across the trust.
To liaise with and actively promote excellent
working relationships and support the Senior Mental Health Practitioner with
communication & working practices with referring teams and partner
agencies. This would include the provision of expert advice to multi-agency
partners.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be a senior therapist within community
multi-disciplinary team, based in the identified locality they will also
provide senior support to Speech and Language therapists in other localities
providing support and advice and where required direct input into complex and
high risk cases.
You will also provide specialist speech and language therapy
assessment and treatment for service users in receipt of care from community
services. Enabling service users to
engage in a range of individual and group community based treatment
activities. You will be actively involved
in the promotion of Speech and Language therapy within the service area. The post holder will be required to work
flexibly to meet the needs of the service and the client group.
The post
holder will contribute to the leadership and development of the Specialist
Learning Disability Health Team in accordance within local and national
guidance.
The post holder will be a source of expertise around communication and dysphagia
and provide support and advice to others.
The post-holder independently assesses,
diagnoses and manages the communication and/or swallowing needs of clients, in
particular those with the most complex difficulties, to maximise appropriate
health and social benefits. It will also include the management of clients for
whom English is not the first spoken language.
The
post holder will formulate and deliver individual treatment programmes based on
specialist knowledge for differential diagnosis for communication and dysphagia,
(evidence based practise, national and local guidelines using profession
specific clinical skills and techniques. (eg standardised assessments, AAC,
group and individual work).
The post-holder provides both direct
and indirect intervention, consultation, advice and support informed by evidence based practice
working within a multi-disciplinary model in order to ensure that the inter-agency
needs of clients are met.
The post-holder undertakes advisory
work, second opinions and provides peer review and advice within his/her area
of expertise to support and develop the clinical skills of other staff.
In conjunction with other band 7 SLT the
post- holder provides clinical supervision for other SLT posts working cross
localities and this includes where appropriate providing direct input into
complex cases.
The post-holder liaises both orally and
in writing with any significant others involved in the management of the
client, within and outside the NHS, to ensure the clients needs are met
effectively and efficiently.
The post-holder contributes to
discussion in a multi-disciplinary forum where speech and language therapy
recommendations may conflict with medical/other opinion. This is in order to facilitate quality of
life and best interest decisions.
The post-holder is responsible for
managing his/her own caseload, including clinical administration and
appointments, in order to meet access criteria and ensure a cost-effective,
quality service.
The post-holder has autonomous
responsibility for maintaining accurate and contemporaneous (within 24 hours)
client records, in order to ensure compliance with departmental, professional
and legal requirements.
The post-holder is expected to work occasionally
with clients with challenging behaviour independently and work alone in the
community conducting the appropriate risk assessments as required.
The post-holder is aware of current
