Job summary
The post holder will be working within a busy acute environment, where excellent communication skills are essential to gain a clear understanding of our service users and build therapeutic rapport and work collaboratively with them to support their recovery. You will have a solution focused approach and a can-do attitude and the ability to develop helpful and respectful relationships with service users, peers and MDT colleagues that foster teamwork and positive attitudes.
As a Clinical Team Leader on a busy inpatient unit, you will support the Ward Manager in the provision of a high-quality care for adults with a wide range of mental health problems. You will be confident, and able to challenge tactfully and constructively. You will act as a source of expertise to the nursing team, service users, and their carers and to the MDT. You will have ample opportunity to build your skills in leadership, management and development of staff, supervision, and appraisal responsibilities, acting as a positive role model and facilitating preceptorship with newly registered nurses. The successful candidate will be expected to work a 24hr shift system so to ensure clinical leadership is provided across the day and night. You will also be supported to gain invaluable experience and grow in confidence as part in our duty senior nurse rota,taking lead on site responsibility for the acute wards and older peoples wards.
Main duties of the job
All Team Leaders are responsible for supporting the Ward Manager in all the roles, leading a team of nursing staff and to deputise in the absence of the Ward Manager.
Team leaders must all take responsibility for education and role model excellent clinical skills.
Team Leaders need to ensure that Assessment and Care planning are of a high standard within their teams.
Team leaders will be expected to facilitate cross supervision, sickness monitoring, Datix reviews, complaints and SI monitoring for the whole team.
Team Leaders will be responsible for individual appraisals as per allocation in nursing teams.
All team leaders will be expected to cover each others duties during absences as required, this may require attendance at meetings.
