Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking
Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills to join the
Kirklees Learning Disabilities Health Team
This is an
opportunity for a Band 5 with post qualification experience who has completed
preceptorship to join the service to undertake a development plan with the aim
of developing the required competencies for a band 6 post. The candidate would
need to successfully complete the competency framework before they gain the
band 6 and this would not be achieved due to length of time in post.
You would join our well-established team and be working in a
range of community settings to support the assessment and delivery of
high-quality therapeutic interventions to address the nutritional and dietary
needs of service users. Focusing particularly on nutrition support, diabetes,
weight management and other specialist areas of dietetics that arise.
The full MDT works together to enable service users reach
their optimal potential and remain well in their communities. This will require
management of a clinical caseload and close liaison with other agencies.
Experience in learning disabilities/mental health is desirable.
We provide regular appraisals, management, and clinical
supervision from experienced band 7 Dietitians and from the wider professional
Network across the Trust with an emphasis on evidence-based and innovative
practice.

Main duties of the job
You will demonstrate a positive attitude and manage a
clinical caseload within the service that is responsive to service user needs.
You will be a specialist source of advice and expertise,
in the management of the nutritional wellbeing of service users, such as
nutritional support, food allergies, gastrointestinal disorders, weight
management.
Provide a clinical and educational community dietetic
service, contribute to implementation of the Trust's Nutrition Policy, and
update and implement service standards.
You will be putting research into practice and Links and
support/supervision will be available from the Dietetic Network for this
specialist area as required.
You will benefit from clinical supervision and the
professional leadership of the Dietetic Network across the Trust.
As part of the Dietetic network, you will be able to
contribute to student training.
You will undertake an MDT interdisciplinary approach in
the Kirklees locality, to improve service user outcomes and ensure delivery of
a co-ordinated service through interpretation/application of local and national
guidance.
The post is fully agile laptop/smartphone provided for
base and home working.
