Job summary
Band 5 Muslim Bank Chaplain (2 hours per week) based mainly at Kendray Hospital, Barnsley
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Muslim Chaplain to join our Pastoral and Spiritual Care team on a bank basis. You will mainly work at Kendray Hospital in Barnsley, with occasional visits to other Trust sites as required.
As a chaplain you will support the work of the Pastoral and Spiritual Care department and be responsible for visiting in-patient services and community sites across the Trust when requested to by the senior chaplains.
As part of our small, supportive, and enthusiastic team, you will provide spiritual, pastoral, and religious care to service users, families, carers, and staff across the Trust.
The role involves responding to referrals, supporting people through times of emotional or spiritual distress, and contributing to the wider wellbeing of our diverse population.
This post is restricted to applicants of the Muslim faith under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, as the duties require the individual to provide faith-specific spiritual care in accordance with Islamic teaching and practice
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will offer care grounded in the Quran and Hadith, lead Muslim Friday prayers when required, and provide guidance and support in matters relating to Islamic end-of-life care and associated practices.
The successful candidate will form good working relationships with staff, service users and carers
Respond to requests for visits (either by referral or when attending the wards)
You may be requested to attend MDT meetings and ward reviews and will attend Chaplaincy update meetings
In addition, the successful candidate will have the confidence and spiritual grounding to minister to people who have complex mental health and learning disability needs
