Health Care Assistant (Paediatric Audiology)

Job summary

22.5 hours per week

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 Health Care Assistant to join our friendly Childrens Audiology team, located at New Street Clinic in Barnsley.

Our services include:

  • Hearing assessment clinic
  • Ear, nose and throat (ENT) consultant-led clinics
  • Hearing aid assessment appointments
  • School hearing screening service for 4/5 year old children

Our service aims to:

  • Provide hearing assessments within set time constraints
  • Identify and manage any hearing problem found
  • Through early intervention, help to achieve improvements in a childs developmental milestones

You will be supported by and work alongside a multi-skilled, friendly and patient focused team who provide a range of services to our patients and their parents/carers.

You will work under the direction of the clinical team, undertaking tasks and duties as delegated.

At the time of advertising, this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. For this reason, we are unable to sponsor anyone for a skilled worker visa for this role.

Main duties of the job

The candidate would work under the direction of the clinical team.

The main duties which this role is responsible for in Paediatric Audiology.

Clinical Rooms

Preparation of consulting room/testing rooms ready for use

In Clinics

Chaperone ENT consultant, assist in procedures, smooth running of the clinic

Welcoming the children & families to the department in clinics

Being the 2nd tester for pre school age during hearing assessments

School Hearing Screening (training will be provided)

Perform school hearing screening tests (off site in schools)

Assist Audiologist

Sort post/collections of hearing aid accessories for families

Send off and log in moulds for hearing aids in book

Data collection for clinics/audits

Patient satisfaction questionnaires collection of responses

Implement ideas for additional feedback collection from families

Help to develop an online presence for the service

To be aware of and adhere to trust policies and procedures
