JOB SUMMARY

The post holder will undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT on a recognised university course. On successful completion of the course the post holder will progress to a Band 7 post, as a qualified High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. This post is dependent on successfully completing the university course.

The post holder will provide High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions, with a reduced caseload, within an Improved Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service, under the supervision of a BABCP Accredited CBT clinician. The post holder will provide a high quality clinical service to the users of the service.

Clinical oversight of all work will be held by the clinical supervisor within the workplace and in the university, and managerial responsibility is to lead in the service/team manager.

The job plan will be delivered in the services the post is based.

The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team while observing Trust and National policies and procedures.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

1.1Care/service/function provision:

To provide High Intensity CBT intervention for people experiencing mild to moderate common mental health problems, under the supervision of a BABCP Accredited CBT clinician. To exercise clinical judgment based on the highest standards of evidence based practice.To deliver excellent levels of customer care to people, and address or report, in a timely and proactive manner, where these standards have not been met. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and effectively evaluate progress.

1.2 Working as part of a Team:

To work as part of a team to deliver person centred care whilst meeting the service standards and objectives. To provide risk assessment and intervention to people who present for treatment. To liaise and consult with the wider professional network in the care of the client. To work jointly with other team members in delivering the most appropriate clinical service to people and their families. To contribute to the audit processes within the service. To contribute to research in the service area.To undertake project management as required to aid service development.

1.3 Managing Self: To continually seek to expand and consolidate clinical skills using training experience and supervision and apply continuous reflection on own practice.

To utilise theory, evidence based literature and research to support evidence base practice of self and others. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, under the supervision of a BABCP accredited CBT clinician.

To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes in consultation with the post holders professional lead and service manager(s). To maintain membership of appropriate bodies (i.e. NMC, BABCP, UKCP) and professional bodies appropriate for the model of working.

To contribute to the development and articulation of best practice in psychotherapy across the service, by continuing to develop the skills of reflective scientist practitioner, taking part in regular professional supervision and appraisal and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in the field of psychotherapy and related disciplines.

To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self- governance in accordance with professional codes of practice and Trust policies and procedures.

Th post- holder will be required to work flexibly both in terms of base and in hours of clinical availability.

1.4. Management Supervision and Support: The post holder has no managerial supervision responsibility but is expected to be a good example to other staff.

1.5.Financial Responsibility: Use Trust resources efficiently and suggest efficiency savings to more senior staff.

1.7. Safeguarding:

Report any concerns regarding the safety or wellbeing of children, adults service users, members of their families etc, in accordance with Trust Policy.

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered qualification in core mental health/social welfare profession.
• OR
• Ability to demonstrate learning equivalent to level 6 higher education study. This needs to be evidenced by a formal qualification, preferably in a health or psychology related subject. A candidate may have an undergraduate degree in a different subject, however the course would require evidence of additional study in a health or psychology related subject from the candidate. Ideally, this would also be at level 6, however other levels of formal qualification in a health or psychology related subject, in conjunction with a previous level 6 qualification, will be considered.
