Yorkshire Smokefree Barnsley (YSFB) is seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as a Stop Smoking Advisor. This Band 3 role is offered as a one-year fixed-term contract, funded through the governments additional grant to support smokers in quitting. The successful candidate will work across Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) social housing settings for two days per week and within the wider YSFB service for three days per week, delivering tailored stop smoking support. This is a key opportunity to make a meaningful impact in priority communities, helping individuals access personalised support and empowering them to lead healthier, smoke-free lives.
The successful applicant will have experience of working in a community setting and be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in smoking cessation and public health and is passionate about empowering people to make positive lifestyle changes.
Training will be given to enable you to meet the demands of the post.

Main duties of the job
The main aim of this post is to support clients who access support to quit smoking,
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual who has experience providing help, support, or counselling in a community setting and can demonstrate strong skills in behaviour change techniques.
The ideal candidate will be a non-smoker with a genuine passion for empowering people to make positive lifestyle changes. You should be confident working independently, managing your own workload and clinics, while also contributing positively to a supportive and forward-thinking team. In this role, you will use your knowledge and interpersonal skills to guide smokers through their quit journey and provide ongoing support to help them stay smoke-free.
At the time of advertising, this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. For this reason, we are unable to sponsor anyone for a skilled worker visa for this role.
