Barnsley CAMHS has a rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner or Clinical Psychologist to join our Children in Care Pathway. You will be a creative and dynamic clinician to help create individualised packages of care to support young people in the community. We are especially interested if you hold qualifications/training in Thera-play or other younger aged treatment models.

You will work closely with the CiC Pathway lead and team manager to offer excellent assessment, consultation, education and direct care to professionals, foster carers and looked after children within Barnsley, you will form part of a wider service working alongside a range of professions including Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, Support Workers, Psychologists and Specialist Therapists.

This post for 30 hours a week and we will endeavour to support the right candidate to work these with a flexible approach.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of an integrated, supportive multi-disciplinary team as part of a wider system offer for Barnsley CIC. You will understand and be able to offer formulation and consultation to a range of professionals, along with foster carers and young people. You will be able to work directly with young people up to the age of 25 within a therapeutic modality and have positive outcomes which are recovery focussed. Being able to manage risk and complexity is essential alongside a calm, resilient and professional manner which supports and advocates engagement with the system and young people.

Good Interpersonal and communication skills are an essential part of this role, needing to adapt these to meet a wider variety of need. You should have experience and/or appreciation of some of the richness and complexities of working with Children Care experiencing mental health difficulties.
