Are you passionate about behaviour change? We have an exciting role available at Yorkshire Smokefree as an advisor to help achieve our commitment to reduce the prevalence of smoking and tackling health inequalities for the people of Wakefield.

We are offering a flexible and varied role, training, working as part of a dynamic team, hybrid working including some working from home, within the community and on our newly commissioned stop smoking bus, generous pension and holiday entitlement as well as working for a progressive and inclusive Trust.

There is potential for the post to be extended beyond March 2026.

At the time of advertising, this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. For this reason, we are unable to sponsor anyone for a skilled worker visa for this role

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our team in Wakefield. The successful candidate will deliver stop smoking advice and support to services users in a variety of settings including face to face, telephone, groups and on a mobile health bus. They must have experience of providing help, support, or counselling within a one to one and group setting and have behaviour change experience.

Although it is desirable to have an accredited Stop Smoking Intermediate Level 2 qualification or the equivalent NCSCT level 2 qualification, full training in smoking cessation and behaviour change techniques will be provided.

  • Smoking Cessation Training Level 2 delivered by an NHS Stop Smoking Service or the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (or to undertake within 3 months of starting in post).
  • Willing to undertake training and development as required to carry out duties of the post.

Desirable

  • Specific training on healthy lifestyle activities e.g. healthy eating, physical activity etc.
  • Motivational interviewing training.
