Job summary

We are looking for a Highly Specialist Psychotherapist Band 8a, however, candidates who do not currently demonstrate this level of knowledge & skills but willing to work towards the achievement of competencies as described in the Person Specification are invited to apply as a Band 7 Psychotherapist.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Psychotherapist to join our Integrated Community Stroke Rehabilitation Teamin Barnsley.

The role encompasses intervention across the whole stroke pathways; Specialist Stroke in-patient Rehabilitation Facility & Stroke ESD & longer-term Stroke Rehabilitation for up to 6 months.

You will undertake all aspects of Psychotherapy clinical duties, carrying out specialist assessments & interventions, preparing relevant documentation, including writing reports.

The post holder will have experience of working with people with long term physical health conditions & will have an excellent understanding & experience of neuropsychological assessment.

Main duties of the job

As Specialist Psychotherapist you will:

Be responsible for the assessment & agreed goals of your patients to facilitate their rehabilitation & optimise recovery potential

Consult with & provide specialist psychological guidance & training to staff, families & professionals

work autonomously as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing assessments & psychotherapy for patients

Develop & maintain good communication links with multi agency professionals

Be responsible for relevant data collection, & maintain a high standard of clinical record keeping

Have an ability to work under pressure in an emotional demanding environment

Be responsible for own specialist caseload making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice & working within Trust policies, protocols & guidelines
