Clinical Support Worker as we approach the opening of two brand new facilities
within the division of surgery - a Community Diagnostic Centre and a Surgical
Hub.
We are now recruiting Clinical Support Workers (CSWs) to
join our teams in these facilities and be part of a specialist group of staff working
together to enhance patient experience.

Main duties of the job
At the new Community Diagnostic Centre in Wakefield and
within the wider ophthalmic outpatient department, we are looking for CSWs to
provide support to visually impaired patients of all ages who require acute or
long-term treatment. This will involve:
- Meeting and greeting patients and making them
feel at ease
- Providing nursing care with regards to the
patients well being
- Carrying out multiple diagnostic tests such as
visual acuity, visual fields and OCT scan
- Being able to identify a normal result following
diagnostic test and acknowledge when there is a defect
The new Surgical Hub at Dewsbury District Hospital will provide
two theatres, four major treatment rooms and ten outpatient clinic rooms. CSWs
will support patients undergoing low complexity day procedures including
plastics, gynaecology, pain management, vascular and general surgery. This will
involve:
- Welcoming and preparing patients for theatre
- Supporting registered nurses post operatively
with wound, drain and catheter management
- Supporting the patients through procedures under
local anaesthetic, including passing instruments and products to the
surgeon/registered nurse and supporting the patient in their recovery
- Undertaking clinical skills such as
observations, swabs, and pregnancy tests.
