The Anaesthetic department currently consists of fifty
Consultant Anaesthetists who provide Anaesthetic and Intensive Care services
for a busy general hospital with all the major surgical specialties and a Major
Burns centre.
Applicants should
possess, or be within 6 months of receiving a CCT at the time of the advisory
appointments committee.
The appointment will
be on the basis of the new consultant contract laid down by the Hospital
Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Service and will be
remunerated as appropriate on the salary scale £105,504 - £139,882 per annum.
Main duties of the job
The main
duties of the posts will include:
Elective Theatre lists: for a variety of different surgical
specialties including general surgery, bariatrics, urology, gynaecology,
orthopedics, plastic & burns surgery, ENT and oral & maxillofacial
surgery.
Consultant preoperative assessment clinic sessions.
Anaesthetic services elsewhere in the hospital (e.g., for
adult & paediatric emergencies requiring anaesthetic support and
interventional radiology & cardiology)
Urgent and emergency care duties including out-of-hours
on-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time
regulations and safe working.
On-call and out-of-hours commitments are for
Acute & Obstetric anaesthesia on an approximately 1:20 rota. The current PA
allocation for the on-call is 1PA/week.
Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the
Trust Framework, with at least a
minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be
commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing
requirements of the service.
