Job summary

We are pleased to welcome an opportunity within the Elective Orthopaedic/surgical Hub at Pontefract Hospital for a Band 6 Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse to join our team. We are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated individual who is passionate about delivering high quality care to our elective patients.

We are currently working towards a Hub status and this includes caring for orthopaedic, surgical and ophthalmology patients.

The inpatient ward consists of 30 beds offering a level one facility to our higher risk patients.

We deliver care for both inpatients and day care patients.

We are a 7-day working that is open 24hrs a day.

As a band 6 ward Sister/ Charge Nurse your role is pivotal as a proficient role model and clinical expert working alongside our Advanced Clinical Practioner. You must be inspirational and motivated and passionate about delivering safe, high-quality, compassionate care to ensure an excellent patient experience.

A commitment to continuous professional development for both yourself and the team is essential, as this will ensure that our team has the required skills and knowledge to deliver safe and effective care.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced nurse with a high level of clinical competence who is looking to develop their management and leadership skills further.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have responsibility for ensuring that a high standard of safe and effective care is delivered to all of our patients and their families or carers. Excellent communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to create an environment focused on quality and safety.

The successful applicant will be an excellent clinical role model as well as cootrdinate the day to day running of the ward whilst providing support to the junior members of the team.

The successful candidate will need a forward-thinking approach to be able to proactively lead and support the multi-disciplinary teams.
