Job summary
We are looking for a
friendly, enthusiastic and confident individual with excellent interpersonal
skills who are experienced in dealing with a diverse range of enquiries from
directors, managers, clinicians, other health professionals to join our team as
Dental Administrator.
Applicants will be required
to demonstrate effective communication and organisational skills; be able to
work both independently and within a dynamic team. The post holder must be able
to multitask and prioritise their own workload, working effectively in a busy
environment. Training will be provided to help you develop your knowledge &
skills within Community Dental.
Main duties of the job
The role of the
Dental Administrator is to provide administrative and organisational support to
the Community Dental Service Facilitator of Community Dental Services. The post
holder will be responsible for the establishment of systems and processes which
support the Community Dental Service and provide an effective contribution to
the organisation e.g. establishment of waiting lists on the IT system and the
billing and collection of appropriate dental charges working alongside the Facilitator.
The post holder
will be responsible for the supervision of all clerical staff within the
service providing support where necessary.

- To provide comprehensive administrative support to the Consultant, Community Dental Service Facilitator and other members of the service as required.
- Preparation of agendas, collation of papers, organisation of meetings, taking and distributing minutes.
- To establish effective systems and processes to ensure that financial records are available so that the cost effectiveness of the service can be monitored.
- Responsible for handling cash and processing payments for dental treatment.
- To calculate and maintain staff annual leave.
- To establish effective up to date systems to provide accurate statistical data for the Trust and the Department of Health to facilitate continued service improvement.
- To support the Community Dental Service Facilitator in providing information to report on service targets.
- To take responsibility for the ordering of supplies needed for the efficient running of the service and to work with other agencies and departments to ensure a cost effective and competitive service.
- To provide leadership and support to the clerical staff within the service.
- To provide support and guidance appropriate to individual needs.
- To provide cover on reception for annual leave and sickness.
- To be responsible for the efficient operation of the administrative function of the Dental Team on a day to day basis and particularly in the absence of the Community Dental Service Facilitator to ensure the continuity of the service.

- To support the Community Dental Service Facilitator in the management of the electronic Referral Management System. Distributing referrals in a timely manor.
