Job summary

Surgical Assessment Unit at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield are looking for both newly qualified and experienced band 5 registered nurses to join our team. The unit is made up of a Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Unit and 33 assessment beds. We care for all surgical specialities on the unit and also have facilities for small surgical procedures and assessments including scanning. It is a fast paced area with a high turnover of patients and high acuity. We offer a great induction and an extremely supportive team with a preceptorship programme for all new starters.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of a team to provide a safe, effective, efficient care environment for patients, relatives and carers. They will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care under indirect supervision from senior staff. They are expected to be able to demonstrate procedures and supervise unqualified staff, and work without direct supervision once the key learning outcomes of the foundation programme are complete.
