Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to appoint a Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner covering the ACP teams across the Surgical Division within The Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The role will enable us to provide consistent and advanced clinical services within all areas to help steer patient journeys through the appropriate pathway in a timely fashion to reduce length of stay and improve patient experience. You will be enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to wanting to help drive the strategy of a blended workforce with advanced skills within this challenging but exciting environment. A key part of the role includes developing non-medical research portfolio with ACPs being Primary investigators. The successful candidate will deliver pastoral support and work alongside the ACPs in the Division to deliver educational support and development of ACPs and trainee ACPs. You will work clinical shifts in the surgical division and will support the Assistant Director of Nursing with the day-to-day management of the Advanced Clinical Practitioners. In conjunction with the Heads of Clinical Services, the Deputy Directors of Operations you will lead in representing the ACP workforce and strategy across the Division to the Senior Leaders of the organisation. The job plan will start as a 60/40 split between clinical & managerial responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be professionally and operationally accountable to the Assistant Director of Nursing, and will be responsible for the strategic direction and operational delivery of a number of services and projects within the Division of Surgery working with key stakeholders on a local and regional basis.

The post holder will lead the development of advanced practice within Division of Surgery, enabling nurses and allied health professionals (AHPs) to develop advanced assessment & decision-making skills.

The post holder will lead the development of the ACP team building their capacity across the 4 pillars of advanced practice to embed excellence in care delivery.

The post holder will practice clinically at an advanced level assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients and making appropriate referrals to other professionals where required.
