Our new surgical hub will be opening in June 2024 this is a state-of-the-art elective care centre and is one of several hubs opening across the country, aimed at tackling Covid-related backlogs, significantly increasing clinical capacity and improving patient care and experience. The new development will give us an opportunity to deliver greater capacity to meet the demand of 2ww colorectal referrals.
We are looking to recruit a new colorectal clinical nurse specialist to work alongside the existing colorectal nursing team and work across all three of Mid Yorkshires sites including this new facility .
We are seeking an experienced Nurse who is committed to delivering excellent patient care, one who will work within our colorectal nursing team to improve and enhance the patients journey. A nurse who is compassionate, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support patients and their families /carers with a colorectal cancer.
The role includes the assessment of patients / service users who are referred on a 2 week wait colorectal pathway.
You and will provide highly specialist nursing support, education and care to our specific patient group. Including setting of standards of care and to take a lead role in establishing evidenced based practice.
The post holder will contribute to achieving the objectives of clinical service /speciality corporate objectives and work within the clinical governance framework.
Main duties of the job
Perform specialist assessment of patients nursing needs plan, implement and evaluate care delivery using advanced clinical knowledge and clinical skills.
Will provide clinical, social and psychological support to their patient group using advanced communication skills, education and health promotion to enable them to reach an optimum level of independence and health
Lead or participate in their cancer care pathway and delivery.
Co-ordinate and manage clinics including 2WW (Fast Track), and triage clinics.
Review , interpret and act upon diagnostic investigations and point of care testing which may effect, change to individual care plans, liaising with appropriate medical staff where necessary
Act as a resource for specialist knowledge for clinical staff on wards / departments
Provide mentorship and preceptorship as required to all staff in the team or students on placement
Responsible for managing staffing capacity and service need for effective clinical cover
