Senior Assistant Technical Officer (SATO)/ Cardiology Healthcare Science Assistant (37.5hrs/week)

Band 3 or Band 2 to progress to Band 3 conditional on achievement of required SCST ECG certification.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Mid Yorkshire Trusts progressive Cardiology Service, providing services on 4 sites at Pinderfields (Wakefield), Pontefract, Dewsbury and the New Community Diagnostic Centre

The Cardiac Investigations service provides a comprehensive range of invasive and non-invasive procedures.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring individual and this is an ideal opportunity to join our friendly team. Duties will include performing routine 12 lead electrocardiograms (ECGs), ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and ambulatory ECG with the potential to develop skills further as appropriate, such as support in exercise ECG. The successful candidate will also be responsible for other departmental duties including stock management/ ordering, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and training of students.

You will hold or be expected to study for an SCST Certificate in Electrocardiography qualification.

Applicants who do not have the required qualification are eligible to apply and if successful would be employed at Band 2 until the above relevant certificate is achieved.

Main duties of the job

Performs and evaluates resting electrocardiographs (ECGs) to national standard.

Set up, fit and download ambulatory ECG monitors

Set up, fit and download ambulatory blood pressure monitors.

Prepares and maintains clinical areas.

Be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is maintained, clean and safe to use. Ensure damaged/ faulty equipment is reported appropriately.

Support the Departmental A&C with the following duties:

Maintaining stock levels and ordering where necessary of office items such as stationary, and clinical disposable items from NHS Central Stores.

Cardiology database user. Retrieving and entering test results, entering OP attendance.

The successful applicant will be rostered to work at any of the 4 Trust sites as required.

To assist in the training program of Student Physiologists, Nursing staff and Paramedics.
