Job summary
The sleep service in MYTT looks after more than 5000 established CPAP patients and consists of an MDT of Physiologists, Nurses and Doctors. As a team we perform sleep diagnostics on all referred patients into the service for a range of sleep disorders from simple obstructive sleep apnoea to complex sleep parasomnias. Approximately 500 new referrals are received a year.
The results of these are all reviewed and patients are seen in the out patient setting for a full sleep assessment to give a diagnosis. The post holder will form part of this team and will set the patients onto their given treatment plan, whilst ensuring optimal standards of care is provided to patient.
Main duties of the job
The job holder will:
- Triage referred patient for sleep diagnostics, analyse results and formulate reports where appropriate
- Perform clinical assessments of referred patients in the outpatient setting including formulating a diagnosis and treatment planning
- Reporting of sleep diagnostic tests and the dissemination of these results to the original referrer or deliver CPAP, BiPAP and Auto Sv review clinics where appropriate
- Undertake clinical supervision and training of junior and trainee physiology/ nursing staff and other professional groups
- Participate in Continuing Professional Development and other developmental activities, including research and clinical trials
- Work with Team Leaders and the Service Manager in further developing the sleep diagnostic and sleep therapy services.
