We are looking for a passionate Band 6 to join our friendly team here on Gate 44. Gate 44 is a 40 bedded Acute General Medicine unit at Pinderfields Hospital. We care for male and female patients from the age of 18 with a side range of medical conditions ranging from Neurological, Vascular, Heart Failure, Cancer and many more.
The role is multi-dimensional and requires the post holder to integrate and fulfil all the identified dimensions. The primary aim of the Band 6 role is to lead and guide the team by example. Placing patients care and safety as a priority by supporting effective patient centred care, performing individual assessment of care needs, developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care that meet the needs of the patient and their families/carers.
In addition the Band 6 Nurse will be expected to support the Ward Manager with Return to Work Sickness Meetings, conducting Appraisals, resolving potential complaints at ward level where possible, supporting staff with Mandatory Training, conduct ward audits and compile information and resolutions to the results.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will deputise in the absence of the ward manager, managing safe staffing levels and the delivery of high quality care to our patients, whilst maintaining a warm and friendly caring environment for patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
The role includes being in charge of the shift, whilst working with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient and effective discharges. Completing ward audits and dealing with patient issues as they arise, as well as ensuring safe staffing levels and supporting other wards within the division.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, show care and compassion to patients and colleagues alike and leading by example at all times in order to promote a safe, happy and effective team.

The Senior Registered Nurse will maintain a nursing culture which is open to change, new ideas, concepts and innovations.
The Senior Registered Nurse will:
