A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our highly motivated and compassionate team.

Gate 11 at Pinderfields General Hospital is a busy respiratory ward accommodating up to 13 patients. We care for a variety of patients with both acute and long-term respiratory conditions, including patients stepping down from ACU/ ICU. We care for patients requiring oxygen therapy and/or domiciliary non-invasive ventilation (NIV), patients with tracheostomies, laryngectomies, and chest drains.

Whilst experience in Respiratory is desirable, we're committed to nurturing and developing registered nurses or newly qualified nurses through support from our dedicated Clinical Respiratory Educator.

We require an enthusiastic motivated individual who has the ability and passion to work within our friendly ward team. Respiratory Medicine is continuously expanding its service and we require registered nurses who have the ambition to help drive these changes. Commitment to undertake ongoing training and development is essential.

If you are motivated to deliver high standards of care and have these personal qualities and characteristics, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a team to provide safe, effective, and efficient care for patients, relatives, and carers.

We live by the Trust Values of caring, improving, being respectful and maintaining high standards. We listen and learn because we aim to make Mid Yorkshire the best place to work and receive care.

As part of the Gate 11 team, you will be focused on patient care, always aiming for excellent patient experience, providing a high standard of care to patients, whilst maintaining their privacy and dignity, assessing care needs, developing, implementing, and evaluating programmes of care and to contribute to supporting the Junior Sister/Senior Sister.

You will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a busy team. You will be expected to work both independently and alongside your colleagues to provide the highest standard of care. The successful candidate needs to be a dedicated and motivated individual with excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.

The successful applicant will have access to training and development opportunities and be welcomed into our friendly team.

To be considered for this post, you must hold relevant UK NMC registration or be in a position to successfully apply for this at the point of your application. Applying from overseas, we are only able to provide support in relation to the costs of sponsoring you for employment and the immigration surcharge.

About us

We provide care and support to over a million people in Wakefield and Kirklees in their homes, community settings and across our three hospital sites at Pontefract, Dewsbury and Pinderfields (Wakefield).

Always striving for excellence, we are at the forefront of innovation and research, and we invest in teaching and the development of our workforce.

We live by our values of caring, improving, being respectful and maintaining high standards. We listen and learn because we aim to make Mid Yorkshire the best place to work and receive care.

We value diversity and welcome talent and enthusiasm irrespective of age, disability, neurodivergence, sex, gender identity and gender expression, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances including providing unpaid carers support to someone with a health and care need. As ethnic minority groups, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people with a disability/neurodivergence are currently under-represented across the organisation, we encourage applications from members of these groups. We have policies and procedures to ensure all applicants are treated fairly and consistently.

We are proud of our staff networks - who offer valuable guidance and feedback from those with lived experience.

We have a clear vision and you could be part of this! If you share our values and you want to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families and carers, we would love to hear from you.
