We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual to join our busy Catering Team.
Working 37.5 hours per week your shift pattern will be Mon - Fri from 09.00am to 17.00pm.

Main duties of the job
You will have the day to day responsibility for providing front line supervision support to all Catering staff involved in food production and food service.
You will provide a progressive day to day leadership,
control and development of a high quality catering service to client services by ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are achieved
and maintained in line with the contract whilst still achieving the budgetary targets.

Job responsibilities
- To recognise and promote a safe working environment, which adheres to Trust and Company's Policies. Working with the Catering Manager to identify and suggest areas where efficiency could be improved.
- To be responsible for compliance of the Company's Health & Safety policies within the catering service.
- Ensure the hygienic handling of food products throughout the food service system in accordance with statutory food hygiene legislation, the Company's Food Safety Policy and the HACCP documentation.
- To ensure that all incidents within the department are reported through the correct reporting procedure in a timely manner and that the required documentation is completed.
- To work in partnership with the Senior Management team to meet the objectives of the National Plan and the Better Hospital Food initiative.
- The Supervisor will ensure that there is a high standard of delivery, and that customer service is consistently maintained and monitored within a team of 28 staff.
- In the absence of the Catering Manager, the Supervisor will be required to take the lead in ensuring the delivery of the catering services. This will include advising the other Supervisors on issues relating to service delivery, resolving day to day operational problems which may require the planning of non-complex changes to work routines.
- To monitor and control wastage levels within the patient catering service and regularly report results to the Catering Manager.
- To promote and observe the portion control guidance whilst ensuring that all food is delivered and served in a timely, attractive and appetizing manner.
- To work operationally with the production team in the delivery of the food service as required.
- Will be required to attend and contribute to catering management meetings and on occasion, facilitate sickness and training group meetings.
- Input the non-stock food orders using the IT based system.
- To maintain the IT based Catering Management System. This will include the changing of recipes, menu changes and updating the system in relation to the HACCP (risk system) which supports the Companys Food Safety Policy and ensures its legislative obligations are met and that due diligence is maintained.
- To work on a rota basis with the other Catering Supervisors to ensure seven day a week management cover for the Staff and Visitors catering services on the site.
- Will be required to cover for the other Catering Supervisors in their designated areas of responsibility in times of sickness and absence.
- On an ongoing basis Catering Supervisors will be required to take a proactive approach to problem solving exercising initiative and judgement to ensure a high quality, safe, clean, customer focused service that is responsive to the needs of all users.
- Occasionally required to travel to other sites to attend meetings and at times of sickness and absence provide management cover.
- On an infrequent basis may be called upon to advise or attend the workplace in an emergency situation.
- Ensure all areas with the department are cleaned in line with work schedules, policy, and legislation.
- Ensure the cash management procedures are followed. Safe keeping of cash, floats, cashing up, banking and change.
- Ensure all staffs hours, overtime, holidays, and sickness are reported on the Erostering system.
- Manage all staff records on ESR.
- Check the stock take every month ensuring all purchases and stock usage are recorded correctly.
- Write follow up letters for LTS meetings and various stages of sickness meetings in line with the Trust sickness management policy.
- Refer staff to occupational health in line with the trust sickness policy.
- Purchase all stock and equipment for retail Catering in line with the Trusts procurement policies.
- Create purchase orders on the NEP system.
- Record all cash, credit/debit card takings on the NEP system.
