The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Decontamination Specialist Estates Officer to join a high-performing team within our Estates department. This role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute directly to patient safety.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Essential: Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship HNDC or OND/C+, extensive experience as a Certified Decontamination Test Person in:HTM-01-01, HTM2031
- Desirable: Certified in HTM2025
Working Pattern and Remuneration:
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- On-Call: Participation in an on-call rota, approximately 1 in 3 weeks, covering 7 days per week. A competitive on-call allowance is provided.

Main duties of the job
As a Decontamination Specialist Estates Officer, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive maintenance, testing, and validation service for all medical decontamination equipment within the Trust. This includes sterilisers, disinfectors, steam clean systems, plant equipment, and other specialist equipment. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing preventative maintenance and break down repairs on all complex engineering services associated with decontamination equipment and respective specialist accommodation in compliance with HTM2010, HTM2030 and HTM2031
- Conducting validation and testing to ensure compliance with relevant standards
- Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and identifying solutions.
- Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance and testing activities.
- Serve as a key point of contact for Trust Officers in Estates and other disciplines, providing expert advice on decontamination equipment to support informed decision-making regarding maintenance and compliance.
