The Catering Department at the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic team member to join our fast paced and friendly team based at Dewsbury Hospital.

You will provide a safe, hygienic, nutritious and timely food service for patients, visitors and staffs.

Your duties will be varied and no day will ever be the same. You will play an integral role within the team in ensuring that the food prepared and delivered is of the highest quality and the department is cleaned to the highest standard.

To work in busy catering department to serve meals for patients and staff/visitors working as part of a team in patient wash up and to facilitate in ensuring a clean and safe environment. Also willing to work in other areas of the catering department to serve patients/restaurant. Be able to work on their own and have food hygiene level two.

This is a permanent part time position, working Monday to Friday with shifts between 11.00am to 14.30pm, 16 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the food preparation and serving areas for patients, staffs and visitors.

A willingness to work within other areas of the catering department essential to ensure continuity of service.

Ensuring that food hygiene legislation and the Trust Food Safety Policy (HACCP) are observed at all times.

  • The hygienic handling of food products in accordance with food hygiene legislation and the Trust Food Safety Policy (HACCP).
  • Observation of statuary and trust food hygiene regulations.
  • The post holder will provide a food service the guidance of supervisors to patients / visitors in the restaurant within the hospital.
  • Regeneration of patient food using equipment as trained.
  • To observe portion control guidance.
  • Serving patient / staff meals in an appetising and attractive manner.
  • Ensure that food products are correctly re-generated according to instruction.
  • Taking and recording of food temperatures and seeking further instruction where these are outside appropriate temperature limits.
  • To be involved in the general cleaning following the appropriate cleaning schedules.
  • Appropriate disposal of waste in accordance with instruction.
  • Check stock deliveries into the catering department and complete the appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure stock is dated and stock rotation procedures are observed.
