This is a permanent full time position working 37.5 hours per week, 5 days over 7, from 10.00am to 18.00pm.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the operational portering team delivering essential items between wards and departments. The post holder will ensure linen, and laundry is delivered to the relevant areas required. The post holder will be removing dirty linen and laundry from the relevant areas to be collected for laundering.
You will undertake a number of other basic portering tasks, including BOC, medical gasses, pharmacy and undertaking other basic portering duties like store.
The postholder will be responsive to the requirements of the service, sensitive to patients needs, courteous and caring to all service users. Work may be planned or require an immediate response.

Job responsibilities
- Undertake the delivering linen and laundry to relevant areas and collecting dirty linen and laundry, within the Trusts outer buildings and segregation of the same for transfer to respective areas.
- Responsible for reporting incidents requiring pest control and supporting and assisting the cleaning and maintenance tasks involved with pest control.
- Undertakes the delivery/collection for pharmacy deliveries.
- Respond to calls from the Radio Systems within the Link Desk to ensure tasks requirements are met.
- Understand, apply, or provide support in emergency procedures including major alerts and fire procedures.
- Required to undertake requests as required including the movement and storage of furniture, officeequipment, within Trust Outer areas and ward equipment including Beds, heavy items as required within the hospital.
- Provide a messenger service between wards and departments.
- Ensure common areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Responsible for the distribution of non-stock items / goods to wards / departments, ensuring that a signature is obtained on delivery on an ad-hoc.
- Participate in the provision of an out of hours gritting in entrances when necessary within Trust outer buildings
- Understand of the operation of the department to assist in its smooth running and enable them to prioritise workload.
