Job summary
The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and motivated Head of Capital Projects for Estates to oversee the delivery of an efficient, safe and effective service across its sites.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Infrastructure, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Estates managers and support staff to deliver a high quality service.
The role will lead continuous improvement in our services, ensuring we deliver value for money and meet the changing requirements of a busy Trust.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the
management and delivery of all Capital Projects undertaken on The Mid Yorkshire
Teaching NHS Trust (MYTT) properties ensuring that the Trust operates within
all relevant Regulatory, Advisory, Compliance, Financial and Service Delivery
frameworks where reasonably practicable to do so.
You will develop the
strategic direction of the Trust Capital Project operations to ensure that Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust meets the needs of the patients, staff and public.
You will be the source of technical ability for Capital
Projects to the Associate Director of Estates and Chief Infrastructure Officer
and supply interpretation of legislation when needed.

Job responsibilities
- The post holder will manage all aspects of the Capital Projects service to provide a safe patient, staff and visitor environment.
- The post holder will be the delegated budget holder for the relevant Capital Projects budgets and will act as an authorised signatory for Capital Projects Trust Orders to agreed levels detailed in the departments financial control procedures.
- The post holder will lead, develop and maintain the departments operational procedures/policies and safe systems of work at all times, to ensure the Trust is exposed to minimum risk in relation to its estate.
- The post holder will be required to work in close partnership with other team members, in addition to working with external agencies and specialist advisers as required.
- The post holder will take the lead role in ensuring that Capital Projects provides up to date information and input into the Trusts Performance Management Framework to enable the Estates Department to comply with the Trusts Corporate Governance Framework.
- Reporting to the Associate Director of Infrastructure, you will be responsible for developing policies and strategies for the organisation, implementation and procurement of various Trust capital projects together with providing expert specialist and professional construction and estates projects advice to estates staff, directors, senior management and external agencies.
- The post holder will have a major role in updating the Trusts Property Portfolio and the Estate terriers and ensure records are accurate and up to date, including leases.
- As Head of Capital Projects you will manage a small team of multi-disciplinary Estates projects staff in commissioning and project managing capital projects of the Trusts Capital Programme in improving the environment for patients and staff. This includes the provision of advice, completion of feasibility studies, detailed design work including preparation of tender documentation and subsequent contract management up to and including agreement of final account.
- You will provide a Capital Design Service and demonstrate a commitment to delivering an environment conductive to high quality healthcare for staff and patients.

- Must possess or be prepared to study for an ILM LEVEL 5 Management Qualification or equivalent.
