Job summary
An exciting new partnership role has bee developed between Mid-Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals Paediatric SLT Service, & Outwood Grange Academy Trust.
The job will be based at Outwood Primary Academy Park Hill in Wakefield and will focus primarily on training education staff within the Outwood Grange Academy, in the areas of speech, language and communication skills. It will include some direct assessment and management of a small caseload within these schools. Training will be based within the school and education staff will be expected to travel into this location to access the training.
The successful applicant will be part of the enthusiastic Paediatric SLT team based in Mid-Yorks Teaching Hospitals Trust and benefit from access to MAST, team meetings, supervision and support.
The role is currently a 12 month, fixed-term post with the hope of extending in due course.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to work closely with the SEN teaching team based within Outwood Grange Academy & be required to develop training packages that will help staff to deliver programmes and interventions in all areas of speech, language and communication.
You will be required to model therapy and support education staff in the delivery of programmes.

- To devise and deliver structured training
programmes to primary education staff suitable for helping children with SLCN
to develop communication skills. This may include modelling interventions and approaches
with children.
- To advise and support education
staff in developing optimum communication environments
- To deliver twilight SLCN-focused training sessions (e.g. 16:00-17:30)
