Specialist Children's Physiotherapist

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

We have a full time vacancy within our small children's MSK team in the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust and we would welcome applicants who are keen to develop their paediatric MSK skills. This opportunity is advertised as a Band 6 post but developmental posts will be considered and therefore we would actively encourage applying.

We are a friendly and welcoming team who are forward thinking and open to innovation and change. Children's MSK is a service under Children's Physiotherapy primarily at Pinderfields Hospital. We are based on a purpose built children's centre at both sites with good links to the surrounding MDT. We often liaise with specialist physiotherapy units based in Leeds and Sheffield to develop and benchmark services. The service lead is a physiotherapist by background which lends itself to ambitious hard-working team dynamics.

Main duties of the job

This position is permanent and a full time 37.5 hours role. It will be based over our two sites, Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospital. Previous experience in paediatrics is not essential as we will consider developmental applicants.

Other roles of the job include supervising junior staff, student educator role and participation in both team meetings and in-service trainings. As part of the smaller MSK team there is opportunities to take on clinical governance, triaging, patient experience forums and service development. Wider in the Children's Therapy Team, our physiotherapists have a responsibility to deliver respiratory and orthopaedic physiotherapy within our acute service however this is based on previous experience and current competencies. You will also take an active lead in Virtual Fracture Clinic working alongside orthopaedic consultants.

You will have monthly supervision and we will cater to your learning needs with additional training, joint working and encouragement of shadowing other areas of the service.

About us

We provide care and support to over a million people in Wakefield and Kirklees in their homes, community settings and across our three hospital sites at Pontefract, Dewsbury and Pinderfields (Wakefield).

Always striving for excellence, we are at the forefront of innovation and research, and we invest in teaching and the development of our workforce.

We live by our values of caring, improving, being respectful and maintaining high standards. We listen and learn because we aim to make Mid Yorkshire the best place to work and receive care.

We value diversity and welcome talent and enthusiasm irrespective of age, disability, neurodivergence, sex, gender identity and gender expression, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances including providing unpaid carers support to someone with a health and care need. As ethnic minority groups, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people with a disability/neurodivergence are currently under-represented across the organisation, we encourage applications from members of these groups. We have policies and procedures to ensure all applicants are treated fairly and consistently.

We are proud of our staff networks - who offer valuable guidance and feedback from those with lived experience.

We have a clear vision and you could be part of this! If you share our values and you want to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families and carers, we would love to hear from you.
