Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic midwife to relaunch and lead our amazing purpose-built
Standalone birth Centre within North Kirklees.
Approximately 5,400 women each year
choose to birth at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. We provide antenatal,
intrapartum and postnatal care across the Wakefield district and North Kirklees
offering home, birth centre and obstetric unit as places of birth.
At our trust we are
continuing to implement the National maternity Transformation Programme
alongside our colleagues in the local maternity System (LMS) the Maternity
Voices Partnership (MVP) and other community partners.
The NHS plan also focuses on care quality and outcomes improvement which
forms the drive for our local maternity service improvement
strategy.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will ensure
the Birth Centre runs effectively and smoothly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and creates an environment that promotes a positive birth experience enabling accessibility and choice of birth
place.
The post holder will include acting as
a role model to ensure all midwifery practice within the Birth Centre is
underpinned by a philosophy of excellent and safe care for women with low risk
pregnancies and women who choose to birth of pathway.
The applicant will support women and
families throughout pregnancy and birth, when choosing to birth off pathway,
providing information which meets the needs of the women's individual needs and
develop pathways to support shared decision making and the co-production of
care, ensuring that there is an emphasis on unbiased, reliable information and
that women understands both risks and benefits.
Working with internal and external
agencies including the Maternity Voices Partnership to promote services that meet the needs
of women and families is an essential
part of the role.
Support implementation of the MUSA
framework and participate in the
Midwifery on call rota.

- Ensure that the area has a robust training programme for staff and that Mandatory requirements are met.
- Ensure all staff have an annual appraisal in line with Trust policy.
- Participate in developing and delivering multidisciplinary/mandatory training sessions, and ensure trainers are available for these.
- To actively manage attendance of all staff.
- To actively participate in the recruitment and retention of staff promoting a dynamic working environment.
- To teach, educate and develop groups of staff to give support and professional advice and guidance on policy or service changes.
