Job summary
Information management are looking to recruit an Information Analyst. You will be assigned to one of our workstreams specialising in a work area whilst supporting our information officers. You will provide analysis and deliver and maintain key information outputs, as well as being proactive and supportive to all work and information requests. You'll generally oversee routine tasks with opportunity for ad-hoc/project type work requiring technical ability. You'll be responsible for supporting the consistent delivery of our internal and external outputs to a high standard - as some of these outputs are published as public domain.
As a person you'll be inquisitive, methodical, thorough and also be good at interpreting requirements. You'll be logically minded with appropriate technical skills to support our work. You'll also be expected to be a self starter.

Main duties of the job
- Use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Qlik to develop, maintain and adapt reporting flows to our customers to meet their requirements.
- Interpret requirements from national guidance as well as internal customers to develop high quality reporting outputs and insight.
- Monitor and implement controls with information processes to ensure high quality and consistent outputs are assured.
- Periodically review processes to ensure compliance to information and national as well as local standards.
- Liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff from other disciplines and also attend meetings proving assurance and representation for information management as required in order to help deliver Trust objectives.

- Deputise for the
Information Manager and Senior Information Analyst as required.
- Allocate routine
tasks to members of the team. Ensure the routine task rota is updated monthly
and planned around leave and other workload priorities.
- Allocate new development tasks to
members of the team.
- Liaise with internal/external
customers to identify the specific requirements of their information requests,
and act as an advisor of the content to ensure it meets their requirements,
providing follow-up if necessary.
- Prioritise and plan the
completion of ad hoc information requests.
This includes negotiating deadlines for the completion of such requests.
- Complete ad hoc
information requests when necessary, analysing and presenting complex data in a
clear and understandable format.
- Monitor requests
for ad-hoc information and report monthly on tasks allocated and completed.
- Support members of the team in
all aspects of the production of accurate and timely reports.
- In conjunction with the
Information Managers continually review departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure departmental documentation
is kept up to date and is always in the agreed standardised format.
- Assist the
Information Managers in establishing departmental targets for accuracy,
timeliness and responsiveness and systems for monitoring them.
- Design routine
and ad-hoc information reporting processes, making use of automation with good
supporting documentation and quality checks.
- Write complex
data manipulation routines using relevant database query tools, linking
multiple data tables, specifying output format and the records to be
retrieved. Ensure that the most
appropriate solution is provided, according to the specific requirements.
- Design and run programs making
use of the more advanced data manipulation tools in Microsoft Excel/Access/SQL
Server (including formulae, pivot tables and macros), to convert complex raw
data into the required format of information.
- Monitor processes to ensure
information quality in accordance with NHS Standards and Definitions by
checking that data has been recorded to the above standards.
- Support the Information Managers
in organising office cover and managing requests for leave.
- Participate in the recruitment
process, specifically ensuring that the job description and person
specification meet the requirements of the role, and short-listing and
interviewing with the Information Managers.
- Provide
cover/support for annual leave/sickness specifically to ensure that the timely
submission of reports and returns are maintained.
- To organise
