A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work with the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust's Complex Needs team. The Complex Needs team is a fast paced, forward thinking, and a national award-winning team.
The team is expanding to include 11 Enhanced Care Support Workers who will provide an enhanced level of care to patients with behaviours that challenge or for those at high risk of absconding.
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will support patient safety as planned and directed by the Enhanced
Care Coordinator by providing enhanced care to patients assessed as requiring
RED Enhanced Care due to a risk to themselves or others, and to those detained
under the Mental Health Act.
The
post holder is responsible for maintaining high standards of care and providing
services in accordance with the Trusts declared values and principles to
support the nursing team in the delivery of patient care.

- To support patient
safety in accordance with the patients care plan, and as delegated by members
of the multidisciplinary team. To meet the patients identified treatment and
care needs as prescribed in the care plan, ensuring high standards of patient
centred care are delivered.
- To maintain
confidentiality, privacy, and dignity in relation to the patients and their
treatment at all times.
- Deal with patients, on
a face-to-face basis, in circumstances involving violent/aggressive behaviour
using the application of conflict resolution techniques.
- To work effectively as
part of the team, liaising closely with all members of the inter-professional
team, care staff and other staff as appropriate.
- If (or when) required, apply control and restraint
techniques as per the Maybo training to fulfil the duties and responsibilities
of the role.
- To use resources effectively by prioritising daily caseload to maximise
the benefit to patients.
- To undertake duties as
directed by a qualified health care professional.
- To undertake frequent therapeutic handling and
moving of patients with aids (as needed) and equipment utilising moderate
physical effort within clinical and non-clinical settings. This may involve
bending, kneeling or frequent repetitive activities often in confined spaces.
- Contribute to the clinical governance plan and
objectives, maintain an awareness of the NHS modernisation agenda; ensure
practice is up to date and that high quality clinical care and support is
delivered to patients, relatives and carers promoting independent dignity and
choice.
- To have basic awareness of the Mental Health Act
and the Mental Capacity Act, working to the principles of each Act. and seeking
support from specialist advisors in the Trust
- To clearly communicate timely, accurate and
relevant information regarding patient care with patients, their families and
carers, other professionals, and services, to ensure seamless, quality care and
to empower patients to become partners in their care.
- To maintain standards in organising health
information, to safeguard the confidentiality of patient information, be aware
and comply with policies, practices and legislation that affect the practice of
the Nursing Service. Also, to ensure accurate record keeping, file management
and profiling data.
- To maintain standards in ongoing health
information, both electronic and paper based, ensuring safe keeping and
confidentiality accurate record keeping of relevant data and profiling.
- To participate and contribute to the development
of partnership working; in order to positively influence the development of
services, through maintaining an awareness of multi-disciplinary agencies

working atmosphere of the team and be involved in a 24-hour service.
