Job summary

Abacus Nursery provides day care for children aged from 3 months through to 5 years. We also operate a Holiday Club, based at the Nursery, for Children aged 4 14 years. The ability to work as part of a team and a commitment to providing high quality childcare is essential.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic, reliable and adaptable childcare workers to come and join our team of supply childcare practitioners to work in the nursery/holiday club as and when required.

These should be adaptable, flexible Supply Childcare Practitioners who have some experience of working with pre-school children or with children aged 4 -14 years. Work may include anything from full-time to occasional day/morning/afternoon to cover sickness/annual leave, also suit students looking for holiday work.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be required to work as part of a team, supporting the provision of a secure, caring and stimulating environment.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To be flexible and adaptable, working as part of a team, providing childcare in the absence of permanent childcare practitioners.
  • To communicate on a daily basis to parents and staff about childrens welfare, development and health and social care.
  • Work closely with colleagues and nursery manager to ensure the high quality standards are maintained.This will be done on a daily basis through monthly staff meetings, quality improvement meetings and team meetings.
  • To communicate effectively with children at their level in a calm, caring,reassuring manner.
  • To keep the Nursery Manager/Out of School Co-ordinator informed of availability to work.
  • To assist with the entire childs personal care during the nursery day, including feeding, changing nappies, or soiled clothing, special dietary requirements/sterilization of feeding, and play equipment.
  • Administrate medication to the child as instructed by their parent/guardian ensuring the correct storage and documentation procedure is followed. Taking the necessary action when a child becomes ill during the nursery day, seeking advice from a permanent room member of staff to decide at which point a parent should be contacted.

Essential

  • English and Maths GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent

Desirable

  • Level 3 in Childcare/ Playwork Qualification
