This opportunity in our experienced Neurology team might be for you!
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain skills and experience by working across our two Stroke and Neuro rehab units.
- A2 Pinderfields - Gain experience assessing and treating patients within our hyper acute stroke unit, as well as working within the acute setting, with experience of providing rehabilitation to patients following stroke and neurological event, as well as being involved in complex discharge planning.
- Ward 5 and 6 Dewsbury - Gain further experience working on the rehab pathway, supporting patients on their rehab journey, gain more experience with upper limb and cognitive rehab working with patients following stroke, acquired brain injury or neurological event. Developing skills in safeguarding, capacity assessments and complex discharge planning.
We will provide regular supervision, there will be regular training opportunities, as well as opportunities to supervise staff and students. There are opportunities to be involved in service development, staff development and influencing service change.
This post is 28.5 hours - with an opportunity to increase to 30 hours from April 25.
Main duties of the job

To be responsible
for the delivery of a specialised Occupational Therapy intervention within the
Neurology team, utilising in-depth theoretical and technical skills.

To
independently manage a caseload of patients with complex needs within neurology
using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and
evaluate interventions in order to minimise disability and maximise
independence for independent living.

To provide
leadership, supervision, and appraisal for junior and non-qualified staff and also
students.

To
participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy
Services within the Neurology Team, holding responsibility for defined
projects.
