Job summary
Following on from a successful pilot scheme with NHS England and the implementation of inpatient podiatrists on a diabetic ward at Pinderfields Hospital, Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust are pleased to announce a fixed term maternity cover post within our podiatry team. This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced, forward thinking, HCPC registered podiatrist to join our friendly small dynamic team.
The post holder is required to be an autonomous individual who is able to develop professional relationships within the multi-disciplinary team quickly and embrace the ambitions and priorities of both Mid Yorkshire and the podiatry team.
Our podiatry service prides itself on providing staff with a supportive and stimulating team environment in which to work, along with all the other benefits associated with a modern and forward thinking NHS organisation which has been recognised and accredited with an Investors in People award. All our podiatry staff are supported with regular appraisals that encourage you to develop your professional skills and knowledge in order to achieve your potential and you will also receive a comprehensive induction package.
Main duties of the job
The post is a fixed term 12 month contract to cover maternity leave primarily based at Pinderfields Hospital but will work district wide as needed to develop and implement clinically effective podiatry interventions to the population covered by podiatry, delivering services from a number of locations dependent upon service need.
The post holder will independently and effectively self-manage a patient caseload with complex needs using appropriate assessment techniques and equipment to assess, plan, implement and evaluate podiatry interventions. This will be delivered first and foremost for a diabetes caseload but may include a range of high risk patients including those with vascular disease, chronic neuropathy, chronic disease and other complex medical health care needs in accordance with professional/Trust policies and guidelines.
You will require good communication and multi-disciplinary team working skills. You will need to be flexible as work areas may change. You must currently be registered with the Health Care Professions Council. It is essential that you have access to a vehicle with the ability to travel the district as required.
