Job summary

We are seeking an organised, motivated, and compassionate individual to join our Haematology team as a Band 4 Stem Cell Transplant and Harvesting Coordinator. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to work within a specialist service supporting patients throughout their stem cell transplant journey.

In this pivotal role, you will provide high-quality administrative and coordination support to ensure the smooth running of transplant and stem cell harvesting pathways. You will work closely with clinical teams, patients, donor registries, laboratories, and external partners to facilitate timely, safe, and efficient care.

Main duties of the job

  • Day to day running of the transplantation programme in accordance with the Quality Plan.
  • Act as a focal point for the transplant team. Provide a friendly and professional service; deal with enquiries from a multitude of sources following Trust policies and standard operating procedures. Liaise with GPs, other hospitals, patients, internal medical/non-medical staff and medical/non-medical external staff by a variety of means i.e. face to face/phone/e-mail/letter on a daily basis.
  • Organise individual transplant patient care with the support of the Haematology CNS and transplant team to ensure that all the stages in the pre transplant workup, mobilisation, harvest, line insertion, conditioning and transplantation are performed in line with the Quality Plan to provide a positive patient experience.
  • Update and maintain the Stem Cell Transplantation planning calendar.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their relatives and carers, ensuring that they receive the required information to enable them to give informed consent and participate in their care delivery.
  • Liaise with the collection facility and stem cell laboratory to enable effective harvesting of patients and supply of stem cells for transplantation.
  • Assist with the confidential management of patient records both paper and electronic ensuring compliance with Data Protection and patient confidentiality legislation.
