Job summary
This is an exciting role for a Band 6 Sister on Ward 12 Elective Surgical Unit at Dewsbury Hospital.
We are a busy elective facility, caring for adults undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures, including general surgery, breast, urology, gynaecology and vascular. Our facility cares for both Inpatients and day cases.
In this role you will have the opportunity to work alongside a friendly professional dynamic team of staff utilising and developing your leadership, time management and team building skills further.
We are looking for a person with excellent surgical experience who has a desire to work with us and lead the team to ensure the service we provide is of the highest standard.
Main duties of the job
- Clinical leadership-to strive for continuous improvements in the delivery of high quality patient focussed care.
- Delegation of work on a day to day basis for junior staff and be responsible for the continuing care of the patients on the unit.
- Plan, prioritise and management of own workload and manage skill mix to reflect the work load.
- Lead by example, motivate support and empower others.
- Effective team working-excellent listening and communication skills.
- Mentorship and supervision of pre and post registered staff.
- Act up in the absence of the Ward Sister, taking appropriate actions as necessary.
- Ensuring nursing practices comply with Trust Policies and procedures.
- Responding to patients, relatives and carers concerns as they arise and take action as required.
