Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and wellorganised Band 3 Clerical Officer to join the Burns Therapy, Plastics and Hand Therapy Team within the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. This is a parttime (30 hours per week), fixedterm position for 12 months. We are seeking an enthusiastic administrator with excellent organisational and communication skills to support our friendly therapy services. The successful candidate will primarily work with the Burns Therapy service, with additional responsibilities supporting Plastics and Hand Therapy. The post involves registering and managing the outpatient referrals, booking therapy appointments for patients and handling general patient enquiries in a professional and helpful manner. Excellent communication and IT skills are essential, along with strong attention to detail. The role requires ensuring accurate data entry, including inputting statistics and information into Trust databases and systems. You will be supported by the administrative team leader, however, you will be expected to manage and prioritising your own workload effectively. Previous experience within an NHS administration role is desirable. Please give evidence of your qualifications in line with the person specification.
Main duties of the job
To provide an efficient customer service including welcoming visitors to the department, dealing with a diverse range of telephone and face to face enquiries from patients, other health professionals, external agencies and members of the general public, in a pleasant and helpful manner. To take, relay and deal with, as appropriate, detailed and confidential information and enquiries from a variety of sources. To exercise judgement to analyse and resolve problems. To effectively use a variety of verbal communication skills to manage sensitive and difficult situations. To adapt communication skills where there may be difficulties with understanding due to physical, cognitive, psychological or social problems. To be able to liaise and communicate with a wide range of health professionals, other departments and external agencies, relaying staff, patient and service information efficiently. To be able to work within a team environment, attend and contribute to team, group and Trust meetings. Administrative Skills To be responsible for the electronic/written recording of up to date, accurate information relating to the various areas of The Burns and Hand Therapy Services in line with applicable legislation, departmental and Trust guidelines. To be able to give advice on Trust policies relevant to the area of work and appropriate to the grade. To be responsible for the completion of non-stock and stock requisition forms for ordering items ensuring that they are monitored.
