Job summary

An opportunity to work at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust for the procurement department as the Procurement Team Leader.

The post holder will contribute to the provision of a cost effective and responsive professional purchasing and supplies service.

To assist in promoting strategic procurement issues across all Trusts by efficient and effective purchasing arrangements. To make contributions to value for money to help improve patient care.

Responsible for the materials management / inventory management services to the Trust.

Lead and implement change and improvements to support the team to deliver their annual savings targets and raise the team profile with clients.

Responsible for the line management of the operational teams.

Seek to influence and encourage clients towards standardisation of products and cash releasing savings.

Work with colleagues to implement change, improve the service and deliver better value for the NHS.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the oversight of the team activity managing all staff reporting to this role and make recommendations for improvement.

Line management including staff appraisals and sickness absence. Also participating in recruitment and selection.

To contribute to the continuous development and performance of the Supplies Department by participating in development activities and by suggesting areas of departmental and personal improvement.

With input from the team identify services that would benefit from improvements and be responsible for planning change with user departments so actions can be undertaken and increase the efficiency and take action.

Identify new services that would benefit from e-procurement. Develop customer review criteria and arrange regular meetings with customers for effective use of systems. To work with multiple stakeholders on improvements to systems.

To lead on the roll out of Supply Chain or Inventory service change and improvement.

To promote assess and advise peers and senior managers on best value procurement and seek out innovative opportunities to improve sustainable procurement.

To participate in creating a positive culture within the Department and through effective communication with customers which will ensure the delivery of a professional purchasing and supply service.

Ensure that a good working relationship is maintained between all members of the team and associated departments.
