Job summary

To provide a front of house security service at Mid Yorkshire Hospital sites (Dewsbury, Pinderfields and Pontefract), providing a comprehensive service to all patients, staff and visitors.

  • Maintain a smoke free environment within the grounds of Mid Yorkshire Hospitals.
  • To undertake a range of car parking duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

Ensure the safety & protection of patients, staff, visitors, contractors and any other legitimate site users' property against loss, theft, damage and waste.

Main duties of the job

  • At all times Security staff will be expected to maintain a standard of personal conduct and deportment in keeping with the nature of their duties and the hospital environment.
  • Carry out regular patrols of the site to ensure that smokers do not congregate and block the passage of staff, visitors, patients and others to the hospital entrance.
  • Protection of patients, staff, visitors, contractors and any other legitimate site user and users property against loss, theft, damage and waste. Receive and log complaints of crime from patients, visitors and staff.
  • Carry out investigations when required of any loss or breaches of security and report to the Supervisor as necessary.
  • Provide security assistance as required in accordance with the Trust Major Incident Plan, Missing Patient Policy and Major Non-Clinical Emergency Policy and at the scene of road traffic accidents within the hospital grounds.
  • Ensure the safe custody of all lost/found property out of hours. During working hours take such property to the General Office.
  • Assist in the passage of critical information when communications systems fail.
  • Use of several computerised (or any other) systems in relation to Security and Car Parking.
  • Report any untoward incidents concerning members of staff to the Security Supervisor and/or other levels of management.
  • Report and log any criminal acts to the Security Supervisor and/or other levels of management.
