We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Inpatient Physiotherapist to join our teams across Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, working in a split post between Pinderfields Hospital and Dewsbury District Hospital.
This post offers a varied and rewarding role, combining proactive hospital avoidance work with specialist elderly care inpatient physiotherapy, ideal for someone looking to broaden their clinical skills while working within supportive, well-established multidisciplinary teams.
What we are looking for:
- HCPC-registered Physiotherapist
- Relevant post-registration experience, including inpatient physiotherapy
- Experience or strong interest in elderly care and/or hospital avoidance services
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload
- Commitment to service development, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice
This is an ideal opportunity for a Band 6 physiotherapist looking to develop skills across both acute hospital avoidance and elderly care, while contributing to innovative services across the Trust.
Base: Pinderfields Hospital & Dewsbury District Hospital
WorkingPattern:
- 3 days Hospital Avoidance Team, Pinderfields Hospital
- 2 days Elderly Care Inpatients, Dewsbury District Hospital
- This is a 7 day service, weekend working is expected as part of the role with days off taken back during the week.
Main duties of the job
The Role:
Hospital Avoidance Team Pinderfields Hospital (3 days per week)
You will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team delivering rapid assessment and intervention to patients at risk of hospital admission. The focus is on promoting independence, preventing unnecessary admissions, and supporting safe management in the community or alternative pathways. The team also cover the acute admission unit, frailty assessment units, elderly care and gastro wards.
Elderly Care Dewsbury District Hospital (2 days per week)
You will provide high-quality physiotherapy assessment and treatment to older adults with complex medical, cognitive, and functional needs on the inpatient wards. The role includes discharge planning, MDT working, and supporting safe and timely transitions of care.
