Job summary
The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trusts Research Department is looking for an experienced Midwife to join their team.
Since the appointment of the first Research Midwife at MYTT in December 2021, the reproductive health, neonatal and paediatric portfolio has grown beyond expectations and is now supporting multiple studies and over 19,500 participants. To maintain the impetus and continue to develop and grow the portfolio, we are now looking to appoint a Midwife primarily to support a new study developed from the BaBi portfolio.
You will be offered training and support to take on this role and development to support the existing portfolio of work. Experience of the research process is desirable but not essential. You will learn about the research delivery process from expression of interest through feasibility, set up, study delivery, close out and archiving. It is expected that the you will assist the Senior Research Midwife and the wider reproductive health research team in maintaining and developing the portfolio, as we seek to realise our ambitions to develop a program of research from within the Born and Bred in (BaBi) Wakefield public health study.
Opportunities for additional training to develop in the role will be supported. Additional training and development will be considered on a case by case basis.
The job is offered for a period of 18 months initially and may become permanent subject to ongoing funding.
Main duties of the job
You will focus on one dedicated study but will also work across the full portfolio of studies. You will be responsible for:
- Assessing feasibility of running studies at MYTT.
- Identifying and recruiting suitable participants against study protocols.
- Undertaking of clinical tasks appropriate to the role of a research midwife.
- Recording and input of data.
- Resolving data queries with sponsors.
- Working with the multidisciplinary team to ensure studies run as expected.
- Identifying and reporting of adverse events.
- Liaising with sponsors.
- Giving oral and written presentations.
- Contributing to comms and engagement activities both within and external to the Trust.
- Contributing to the new staff inductions.
- Supervising of students.
- Deputising for the band 7 as required.
- Other tasks which are commensurate with the role as required.
