Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Special Schools Nursing Team for a Band 5 Special School Nurse: Term Time 34.10hrs per week pro rata. The Special School Nursing Team are a friendly, welcoming Team of Nurses & Nurse Associates who are passionate about meeting the health needs of children & young adults within the Education setting Kingsland Primary School & Oakfield Park School.
The Special School Nursing Team provide specialist nursing support to children or young people with nursing or medical needs within both sites. The role will include cross site working between both schools.
The role will include supporting with Nutrition and Enteral feeding, Nasogastric & Gastrostomy support, Respiratory support, Wound care, Parental/carer training, Symptom management, Liaison (local & regional), planning required equipment provision, administration of medication & seizure management.
INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD WEEK COMMENCING 26TH JANUARY 2026.
Main duties of the job
Initiate and participate in individual plans of care for the patient, involving the patient, if possible, and carers if appropriate, without direct supervision.
Continually assess and evaluate the childs condition acting where required Maintain clear, accurate, legible and timely written documentation on System One providing a record of care delivered.
Remind other members of the team to do likewise. Perform procedures such as wound cares, tracheostomy cares, Enteral device support, ventilation and seizure management.
Support with completing, recording and reporting on Investigations as necessary Recognise child and vulnerable adult safeguarding issues and follow the interagency guidance and policy, informing the appropriate professionals and parents/carers of concerns and procedure.
Initiate and participate in advanced life support and cardiac arrest management
