Job summary

Join our Trauma, Orthopaedics & Amputee team and support patients at one of the most pivotal points in their recovery.

Be part of a specialist team managing a varied caseload across acute wards working closely with a highly skilled MDT.

The successful applicant will work as part of a dynamic therapy team across the team at Pinderfields General Hospital, with a senior role with supporting patients living with lower limb loss in the acute phase, supporting and facilitating independence and safe discharge home from hospital.

Main duties of the job

The role involves demonstrating key skills and experience in providing Occupational Therapy to patients with lower limb loss, particularly in the acute phase, liaising closely with colleagues external to the trust to ensure the smooth transition and pathway for the patient, conducting environmental visits to ensure any barriers to independent living are highlighted at the earliest opportunity and supporting patients to facilitate a safe discharge from hospital following this major life changing event.

The post holder will also provide acute assessment and treatment to a range of patients across trauma orthopaedics and medical wards in addition, offering experience to more complex patients and discharges from hospital.

The successful applicant will be involved in student education, the supporting and supervision of Band 5 staff and technical instructors offering compassionate mentorship and strong leadership skills.

Peer support and training will be included in the duties within this role to ensure a team approach to delivering excellent care to our patients.
