Job summary
An exciting substantive opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to join the Acute Care Division as Clinical Educator for the Acute Medical Unit (AMU).
This is a rewarding and challenging role that will lead on the educational and recruitment requirements of the nursing workforce on AMU.
As the Clinical Nurse Educator you will assist with staff development and contribute to developing and progressing staff, recruitment and retention and internal teaching programmes. The post holder will contribute to achieving the objectives of the AMU Key Performance Indicators and speciality corporate objectives while working within the clinical governance framework.
The aim of the role is to maintain an effective educational environment through coaching and staff development within the AAU; thus enabling the delivery of high quality and effective urgent care and improving patient experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a clinical setting in a large healthcare organisation with a passion for developing a highly skilled nursing workforce.
Main duties of the job
Act as a role model and expert nurse providing in-depth highly specialist clinical knowledge to colleagues.
Undertake clinical supervision of nursing colleagues on an individual or group basis.
Act as a resource for health care professionals by being visible, available, and accessible for support and advice in relation to the management of patients within the AAU.
Ensure the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources.
Lead in consultations on and contribute to the development of strategies for delivering effective care within a changing environment that improves the quality of care and health outcomes.
Responsible for monitoring health, safety and security of self and promote best practice across the AAU.
Ensure systems are in place for risk assessment and minimisation in order that near misses and incidents are reported in accordance with the accepted guidance.
When required, participate in the investigation of incidents/complaints including the provision of detailed reports.
Act as an innovative, enthusiastic role model providing leadership, guidance and advice to staff on operational and professional issues promoting an open, honest and transparent culture.
